Athletic Brewing Presents: Ultra Mom

Athletic Brewing sought to build on the momentum of our previous campaign, Inches to Miles. Initially, they didn’t have a story in mind. We started by reflecting on that earlier success and aligning on goals for this new film. The business aim: foster emotional connections that lead to audience preference and conversions.

The Mission

Athletic Brewing sought to build on the momentum of our previous campaign. Initially, they didn’t have a story in mind. We started by reflecting on that earlier success and aligning on goals for this new film. The business aim: foster emotional connections that lead to audience preference and conversions.

Defining the Audience:

We reviewed their customer segments and focused on parents as the most promising audience for a unique story.

Casting and Story Discovery:

We launched a casting call through Athletic’s ambassador and community channels. Over a few months, we gathered around 50–60 stories. After pre-interviewing 12 finalists, we chose Kaylin Goepper—a mom training for her first ultramarathon—whose story of identity resonated deeply. A 40-point checklist guided our selection, ensuring the story aligned with strategic parameters, not just gut feeling.

Emotional Goal:

We aimed to ensure moms and dads felt seen, heard, and loved through Kaylin’s journey.

Creative Approach

After selecting the story, we dove into creative development—script, outline, and brief. We handled pre-production, filmed over seven days, and completed post-production.

Testimonial

Working with Port Side on Ultra Mom was an exceptional experience from start to finish. Their team brought thoughtful story sourcing, meticulous production planning, and a level of creative execution that helped bring the film to life in a meaningful way. We’re incredibly proud of the final product and grateful for a collaborative partnership that made the entire process seamless and enjoyable.
